SASS efforts improve women’s rights, child safety, and family welfare across Kakinada district.

Founded in Samalkot, Swarajya Abhyudaya Seva Samithi (SASS) is dedicated to the empowerment of women and children through grassroots development. The organization operates in underserved regions with a focus on gender justice, education, healthcare access, and sustainable livelihoods. With a team of field coordinators and project managers, SASS conducts awareness drives, skills training, and support services for women in vulnerable situations. The NGO has expanded its operations across the Kakinada district, impacting both urban slums and rural villages. SASS works in close partnership with communities and local institutions to foster inclusive development.

Events

Health and sanitation outreach

SASS conducted medical camps and menstrual hygiene sessions in remote villages. Women received health kits and counseling on reproductive health and hygiene practices. The team worked with ANMs to improve antenatal and postnatal care awareness. Awareness drives covered nutrition, handwashing, and COVID precautions. Referral support was provided for critical health cases. The initiative improved basic health knowledge and reduced stigma around women’s health.

Programs

AADIVASI ABHIVRUDHI – DK AUSTRIA (Sustainable Tribal Livelihoods)

Backed by DK Austria, the AADIVASI ABHIVRUDHI program aims to promote sustainable livelihoods for tribal communities facing poverty, unemployment, and lack of basic services. The program directly supports 3,000 tribal individuals and works alongside ITDA, KVK, and local governance bodies. Focused on entrepreneurship, skill development, and entitlement access, it has already seen 12 beneficiaries launch small businesses and 20 families adopt kitchen gardening for improved food and income security. It has also helped 50 individuals access government entitlements, and 150 SHGs have been trained in sustainable practices like mushroom cultivation, palm leaf products, and natural farming.
